Carnival is leading the way in cruise ship advertising (and fun!) innovation with its new blimp, aptly named the Carnival Airship.

The news was announced yesterday in a Press Release by the company. The first “voyage” the airship made was during its debut at Carnival’s Sixth Annual Day of Play at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

The blimp is scheduled to fly its maiden voyage across seven states during the next 30 days. After it left Memphis, it headed to Dallas. From there it will continue on to Houston, then to Carnival home ports located in Galveston, New Orleans, Mobile, Tampa, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, Jacksonville and Charleston before ending its flight in Atlanta. So keep your eyes on the sky if you are traveling or live around those areas.

This unique addition to the cruise line is part of Carnival’s Homeport Advantage campaign, which is an effort to bring attention to their new cruise ship deployments along the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts.

The article also noted that:

As part of the campaign, consumers will have a chance to win free cruises, Carnival swag, VIP event passes and Carnival cruise gift cards when they take a picture or video of the AirShip and post it on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter with the hashtag #ChooseFun. The hashtag will also trigger a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital ®, Carnival’s longtime charitable partner.

In addition to these home port appearances,

the Carnival Airship will stop in Miami on Sept. 20 to welcome the new Carnival Horizon to its year-round homeport. Shipboard festivities will include fun events hosted by NBA Hall of Famer and Carnival Chief Fun Officer Shaquille O’Neal and featuring Miami Heat players.

Four ships will be arriving to new home ports this September: Carnival Horizon, Carnival Vista, Carnival Breeze, and Carnival Magic.
